Wavelength Docs

Everything Wavelength can do, what's free, what's Premium, and how billing works.

Getting started

  1. Add Wavelength to a server (you need Manage Server there).
  2. Join any voice channel.
  3. In a text channel, type:
/play query: never gonna give you up

Wavelength joins the voice channel and starts playing. Run /play again to add more songs to the queue. Use the ⏯️ ⏭️ ⏹️ 🔁 🔀 buttons on the Now Playing card for quick control.

Tip: commands only work while you're in the same voice channel as Wavelength. That keeps randoms in other channels from skipping songs.

Permissions

Wavelength asks for exactly 5 permissions, never admin:

If it says it can't join, check the voice channel's permissions for the Wavelength role.

How many playlists each tier gets

FreePremiumPremium+
Saved playlists per server325100
Songs per playlist25200500

Dropping to a lower tier never deletes anything. Every playlist stays playable. You just can't add more until you're back under that tier's limit.

Discord can cap what listeners hear at the voice channel's bitrate setting. For the full HQ effect, raise the channel bitrate in its settings (boosted servers can go higher).

Audio filters Premium

Run /filter effect: and pick one. It switches mid-song, right where you are.

24/7 mode Premium

On the Free tier, Wavelength leaves voice after about 2 minutes with nothing playing or nobody listening. With Premium, someone with Manage Server can run /247 enabled:True and Wavelength stays put around the clock. Turn it off with /247 enabled:False.

Music in multiple channels Premium

Got two groups in two different voice channels? Premium plays music in both at once, each with its own queue. Just run /play from the second channel. Commands always control the music in whichever channel you're in.

FreePremiumPremium+
Voice channels at once123

Discord only lets one bot sit in one voice channel per server, so extra channels are played by Wavelength's helpers (Wavelength 2, Wavelength 3). Run /premium channels to see what's ready and add a helper in one click. Helpers only join voice to play music. They don't run commands or send messages.

Getting Premium

Premium is $10/month per server. One person subscribes and everyone in that server gets it. Two ways to buy:

  1. Inside Discord (easiest): run /premium subscribe in the server you want to upgrade and follow the PayPal button.
  2. On this website: head to the Premium page, enter the server ID, and check out with PayPal.

Premium switches on within about a minute. Check with /premium status.

Billing & cancelling

What if a payment fails?

  1. PayPal retries the card, and Wavelength DMs whoever subscribed so they can fix it.
  2. Premium keeps working during a 3-day grace period.
  3. Still unpaid after 3 days? The server drops to the Free tier. Nothing gets deleted: the queue, settings and everything else stay put.
  4. As soon as the payment goes through (PayPal retry or an updated card), Premium switches back on automatically.
  5. If PayPal gives up after repeated failures, the subscription ends. Run /premium subscribe any time to start fresh.

Troubleshooting

The commands don't show up

Press Ctrl+R to refresh Discord. For brand new servers it can take a few minutes. Also make sure Wavelength was added with the invite link (it needs the applications.commands scope).

"Hop in a voice channel first"

Join a voice channel before running music commands, and make sure it's the same one Wavelength is in.

It joins but there's no sound

Check that Wavelength has Speak in that channel and isn't server-muted. Then run /nowplaying. If the song shows but nothing plays, try /skip.

A song won't play

Every so often a song is locked or unavailable. Wavelength hunts for a backup copy, and if there isn't one it skips to the next song on its own. Try a different link or search.

Paid but no Premium yet

Give it a minute, then run /premium status. If you bought on the website, double-check the server ID you entered. Still stuck? Reach out in the support server.
